Deviated Septum – About
Estimates are that 80 percent of all nasal septums are off-center, a condition that is generally not noticed. A “deviated septum” occurs when the septum is severely shifted away from the midline. The most common symptom from a badly deviated or crooked septum is difficulty breathing through the nose. The symptoms are usually worse on one side, and sometimes actually occur on the side opposite the bend. In some cases the crooked septum can interfere with the drainage of the sinuses, resulting in repeated sinus infections. Learn More
Nose Surgery – About
Commonly referred to as a “nose job,” Rhinoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure for correcting and reconstructing the nose, either to restore function or enhance appearance. In the surgery, a surgeon trained in operating on the nose creates a functional, aesthetic, and facially proportionate nose by altering and manipulating the cartilage. Learn More
Nose/Sinus/Facial Fractures, Trauma – About
Injury to the nose or the areas that surround and support the nose is known as nasal trauma. Both external and internal injuries can cause nasal trauma.
The cartilage, nasal bones, and soft tissue are vulnerable to external injuries, due to the position of the nose. The most typical types of facial fractures are nasal fractures. Due to swelling, bruising, and bleeding from the nose, it can be clear that there is an injury. However, they go regularly unnoticed and untreated during the time of injury and a careful examination is crucial for anyone who sustains nasal trauma. Swelling, bleeding, blood clots, and fractures can be a result from injuries to the nasal area. Potential complications of nasal trauma are physical deformity, infections, and obstructed breathing. Ear Surgery – About
Otoplasty, or cosmetic ear surgery, is a procedure to improve the shape, position or size of the ear.
Otoplasty can change the appearance of protruding or disfigured ears. The goal is to create a natural shape, while bringing balance and proportion to the ears and face. Otoplasty can be done at any age after the ears have reached their full size — usually after age 5 — through adulthood. In some cases, the surgery is done as early as age 3. Otoplasty is usually conducted to correct a birth defect in the ear structure or to treat ears that have become misshapen due to injury. Learn More
