Naso-Antral Windows 2

The hair cells that line the sinus are programmed to direct mucous to the natural opening, and down the normal drainage pathway. If the natural exit is still blocked, mucous must accumulate at the natural “exit”, fall to the floor, and passively flow out of the surgical window. The term “window” refers to the surgical procedure of  making a pathway via the maxillary sinus, whereas naso-anstral refers to the nose and maxillary sinus. Naso- anstral windows is an older technique and has been replaced by enlarging the maxillary sinus.
